Attorney

Attorney James South serves as the Assistant Solicitor for the Pittsburgh Municipal Pension Fund.

Attorney James South was born in Glens Falls, New York and served in the U.S. Navy for 8 years as a Hospital Corpsman. The vast majority of his military service was spent as a combat medic with the Marine Corps 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion.

After serving his country, he attended Loyola University of Chicago, graduating Summa Cum Laude (with highest honors) in 1999. He then moved to Pittsburgh, earning his Juris Doctorate from Duquesne University School of Law in 2002. During his time at Duquesne, he served as an Editor for the prestigious Duquesne University Law Review. After graduating from law school, Attorney South joined Frischman & Rizza and has spent his entire legal career with this family-focused law firm. He has been honored to represent individuals injured in medical malpractice, automobile collisions, and other types of injury cases. He is a member of the Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations, the Allegheny County Bar Association, and a President’s Club member of the Western Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association. He also serves as the Assistant Solicitor for the Pittsburgh Municipal Pension Fund.


Attorney South is also an avid outdoorsman. He has a particular passion for Nordic skiing and is the President of the Pennsylvania Cross Country Skiers Association (PACCSA). He serves as the head coach of the PACCSA Yellow Jackets Youth Skiing program and is also active with his son’s Boy Scout Troop.
